You Can All Rest Easy: Wonder Woman is Good
After days of fighting the “Mountain Fire” near Idyllwild, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and Riverside County Fire Department have lifted evacuation orders for the communities of Idyllwild, Fern Valley and Pine Cove.
Business owners and residents were allowed to return to these communities after officials determined the 27,245 acre wildfire had diminished enough to make the surrounding area safe, according to a Riverside County Sheriff’s report.
Visitors to the area were allowed to return as of 11:00 p.m. Sunday, according to the report.
The fire began about 1:43 p.m. on July 15 near the junction of Highway 243 and Highway 74 and quickly expanded over a seven day time period.
Rain at higher elevations helped firefighters to get a handle on containing the blaze, according to the report.
