A resident who has lived in Idyllwild for nearly 20 years, packed her stuff, as the Mountain Fire closed in on town.

Tricia Pilkington, 43, joined nearly 4,000 people who evacuated Idyllwild on Wednesday, July 17, not knowing if she’d ever return to her two-story ‘A’ Framed house on a back mountain road.

Pilkington had many thoughts run through her mind that day.

“What do I need to survive,” she said. “I could lose my town… Where would I go tomorrow, or next month?”
