Moreno Valley: Police arrest 26-year-old for drunken driving after crash kills one, injures two others
Police arrested a 26-year-old Moreno Valley man for drunken driving about 11:48 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Cactus Avenue and Joy Street in Moreno Valley after he crashed is vehicle into the rear-end of another, killing one person and majorly injuring two others, Sheriff’s officials reported today.
Luis Navarro was traveling eastbound on Cactus Avenue while under the influence of alcohol when he crashed his silver Infiniti G35 into the rear of a grey Toyota Tacoma, according to a Riverside County Sheriff’s report.
The three occupants of the Toyota sustained major injuries and were transported to Riverside County Community Medical Center for treatment. There, one of the occupants of the vehicle was pronounced dead, Sheriff’s Sgt. Bill Guimont said.
The eastbound lanes of Cactus Avenue remained closed for approximately eight hours while members of Moreno Valley Police Department’s Traffic Reconstruction team conducted an investigation, according to Guimont.
The identity of the deceased passenger is being withheld until family members can be notified, Guimont said.
