Police responded to a single vehicle collision that happened shortly before 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the area of South Rancho Santa Fe and Broken Rock roads in San Marcos, a Sheriff’s official reported Monday. Police car

The driver of a vehicle of unspecified make and model crashed into a metal pole, injuring both herself and her passenger, according to a San Diego County Sheriff’s report.

The driver of the vehicle sustained serious injuries to her arm while her passenger sustained serious injuries to his face, Sheriff’s Deputy Tammy Bennets said.

Both driver and passenger were transported to Palomar Medical Center for treatment, according to Bennets.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
