Fallen Kingdom is the darkest and most daring Jurassic movie. It’s also the dumbest.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Central Homicide Unit is investigating an officer involved shooting that left the suspect of a car theft dead shortly before 12:30 a.m. today, a Sheriff’s official reported.
Police were chasing two suspects who allegedly stole a vehicle and led officers on a pursuit before abandoning the vehicle and running on foot, according to a Riverside County Sheriff’s report.
The shooting happened when an officer confronted one of the suspects after he had exited the stolen vehicle, according to Sheriff’s Sgt. Jeff Buompensiero.
It was not immediately clear why the shooting occurred.
A Desert Hot Springs resident had reported the vehicle stolen shortly before midnight and it was spotted at 12:21 a.m. in the 13000 block of La Mesa Drive, Buompensiero said.
When officers unsuccessfully attempted a vehicle stop, the chase began, according to Buompensiero.
After the shooting, the suspect was immediately transferred to an area hospital where he succumbed to his wounds, according to the report.
The officer — a six year law enforcement veteran — was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.
