Palm Desert police officers arrested a 52-year-old Palm Desert man for driving while intoxicated after he collided his vehicle with another vehicle at approximately 2:00 p.m. on December 18, 2013, a Sheriff’s official reported.

James William Garvis was driving his black Volkswagen Jetta eastbound on Highway 111 when he collided with a Sterling 825 SL at an intersection, according to a Riverside County Sheriff’s report.

Alcohol was determined to be a factor in the collision upon initial investigation and Garvis was arrested, Sheriff’s Sgt. Radek Horkel said.

Neither Garvis nor the female driver of of the white Sterling was injured as a result of the crash, according to Horkel.

Garvis was booked at the Riverside County Jail in Indio.
