Rogue One is a thrilling and intense, if occasionally tedious, Star Wars spinoff
Oscar-nominated actor Jesse Eisenberg has been cast as Lex Luthor in Zack Snyder’s upcoming “Batman/Superman” film. Jeremy Irons has also been cast as Bruce Wayne’s butler, Alfred.
The news was announced today by Warner Bros. and has fanboys at a rage. If they caused such a commotion when Ben Affleck was cast as Batman, you could only imagine what they are saying about a young, scrawny, actor getting cast as one of comic book’s most powerful and iconic villains.
However, many people (including myself) have been looking on the bright side; Eisenberg’s performance as Mark Zuckerberg in 2011’s “The Social Network,” which he was nominated for an Academy Award, showed that he was versatile and could play a megalomaniac business magnate. As Peter Sciretta tweeted shortly after the news broke out: “Lex Luthor today would be more Mark Zuckerberg, less Bill Gates.”
Henry Cavill will reprise his as Superman from Snyder’s “Man of Steel” along with Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, and Diane Lane and Gal Gadot has been cast as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince. Academy-winning screenwriter Chris Terrio is currently writing the film from a script by David S. Goyer and will be released in theatres on May 6, 2016.
