Sheriff’s deputies from Lake Elsinore arrested a 32-year-old man shortly after 2:30 p.m. Monday after he allegedly shot and critically injured another man in the 28000 block of Red Gum Drive in Lake Elsinore, a sheriff’s official reported today.
The deputies arrived to the property after receiving a assault with a deadly weapon report and discovered Andy Abegg of Lake Elsinore in the front yard of the property, according to a Riverside County Sheriff’s report.
Abegg was immediately detained and the deputies entered the home, where they discovered a man with a life-threatening injury to the head, according to Sgt. Todd Torrenti of the Central Homicide Unit.
The victim was transported to a local hospital to have his injuries treated and is currently in the intensive care unit, Torrenti said.
Meanwhile Abegg was booked for attempted murder at the Southwest Detention Center and investigators from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Department and investigators from the Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit took over an investigation that is currently still ongoing.
It was not clear what kind of weapon Abegg allegedly used to assault his victim, as no other information would be released pending the outcome of the investigation.
