A high school in Menifee was locked down for approximately 45 minutes today after police received a false report about a student with a firearm on campus, a Sheriff’s official reported today.
A report that Heritage High School, a school located at 26001 Briggs Road in Menifee, had a student brandishing a firearm reached Menifee police officials shortly before 11:00 a.m., according to a Riverside County Sheriff’s report.
Officers immediately arrived and put the school on lockdown following the report, according to Sgt. Sergio Rodriguez.
While the lockdown was in full swing, officers searched the campus and located the reported student. They then conducted an investigation and released the student when they determined that he did not have a firearm as reported, Rodriguez said.
