A cardboard box is to blame for an evacuation in a Jurupa Valley neighborhood, it was reported Wednesday.
Police were phoned shortly before 5:45 p.m., Tuesday, May 6, to the 7600 block of Whitney Drive in Jurupa Valley to a “suspicious package,” according to an email by Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Deputy Albert Martinez.

“Upon arrival, a cardboard box was located abandoned at the entrance to a resident’s driveway,” Martinez said. “Three residences were evacuated and the Hazardous Device Team responded.
“The package was rendered safe, with no explosive devices found.”
After the four-hour ordeal was over, residents were able to safely return home.
No injures were reported during this incident.
