Detectives from the Jurupa Valley Police Department have initiated a homicide investigation after a man succumbed to multiple stab wounds he sustained in an attack that apparently took place at a home located in the 6800 block of 36th Street in Jurupa Valley, a Sheriff’s official reported.

Officers from the department responded to the home after receiving the stabbing report and found an injured and unresponsive male there, according to a Riverside County Sheriff’s report.

Emergency Medical Technicians came to aid the victim, who ultimately succumbed to his injuries. His name was not being released until his family could be notified, according to Sgt. Raymond Husky.

The officers detained a 17-year-old male juvenile suspect at the scene after discovering the unresponsive male victim. The 17-year-old’s name was not released because of his age, Huskey said.

Husky said the incident remains under investigation, although it appears to be an isolated event.

“At this time this appears to be an isolated incident between two known acquaintances,” he said in his report.

Still, officers are asking that anyone with additional information contact Investigator Jennifer Cole of the Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit at (951) 955-2777, or Detective Dominic Scheiber of the Jurupa Valley Police Department at (951) 955-2600.
